Speech, Image and Language Processing Lab

In the Speech, Image and Language Processing Lab, Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad, we are working on problems related to Machine Intelligence, Assistive Technology, Linguistics and Analysis of Brain Processings. We have worked on multimodal emotional framework and relation between human physiology and psychophysiological dimensions (valence, arousal and dominance).  In addition, working on development of a tool to assist human in interview process, computer vision technologies, computer assisted machine translation framework, agent based dialogue system, eye tracking systems and understanding and modeling of brain processings for example emotions.

Computer Vision & Biometrics Lab

CVBL promotes learning and system development in the field of Computer Vision and Biometric. The lab facilitates its researchers to be able to exchange ideas and become accustomed to the field through formal interactions with the experts of the domain.

Core Objectives:

  • The Lab will provide a platform to the students, faculty and research fellows to work together and initiate teaching and research activities in the area to unveil various concepts, and tools.
  • The center will provide a common ground to the research community to discover challenges and possible solutions in computer vision.
  • Teaching and learning will be the backbone of the future research activities, which would involve all stake holders.

Bioinformatics and Systems Biology Lab

We are in the midst of a new revolution in biology enabled by the fields of Bioinformatics and Systems Biology, whose goals are to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the information encoded in the genetic material of organisms and how it directs the organization and function of living systems enabled by analysis through integrative experimental and computational modeling approaches. Biological processes are inherently multiscale; critical events are happening at vastly different temporal and spatial levels. Our group focuses on statistical learning, quantum mechanics, molecular modelling and docking studies to tackle challenging biochemical problems. Currently we are working on various bio-analytic studies with a collective goal to decipher the intricacy of nature.

Our lab is part of the Center for Cognitive Computing (CCC) at IIIT-Allahabad. We work in the areas of Big Data Analysis & Modeling of Complex Biological Systems. Our research group is currently involved with development of an array of sensors to mimic the process of human olfaction. We design and perform series of experimental setups to decode Human Olfaction, backed with Systems Biology models. These processes are similar to human olfaction and are performed for identification, comparison, quantification of olfactory system. We are in process of designing a novel cognitive model for olfaction with various pattern recognition techniques.

Data Analytics Lab

We investigate topics related to data analysis and organization of data at small as well as at large scale. We are especially interested in scalability issues in data mining and information retrieval. Theoretical analysis is well supported by the practical analysis using available resources. We also try to solve real life problems by applying the intelligence of data analytics.

The Lab focuses its research on Internet of Things (IoT) and Sensor Networks.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is aimed at enabling the interconnection andintegration of the physical world and the cyberspace. It representsthe trend of future networking and leads the third wave of the ITindustry revolution. Currently, the related technologies aboutIoT have become the international focus, and they are widelyconsidered as one of the most important infrastructures for promotingeconomic development and technology innovation.

Informationnetworks have been used in every aspect of daily life to provideinterconnection among many devices, such as entertainment devices,transportation vehicles, communication equipments, householdappliances, aircrafts, personal computers and all kinds of sensors.Information networks have become an integral part of people’s dailylives. The design and implementation of new types of networks havebeen the core research topics since the beginning of this century.
